For the first 20 years or so, JBL struggled to gain a foothold in the market, however the release of the L100 in 1970, JBL really announced themselves. Having now sold over a million units, the L100 is now a huge part of hi-fi history. Throughout the 80's JBL were known for manufacturing loudspeakers for cinemas, arenas and cars, becoming the most popular brand during the decade.
